Part 2 (Back to Part 1 >>)

Also interviewed are all the cast from the original "Star Trek" as well as many from the new shows. They provide their own wonderful anecdotes and personal opinions as to what this phenomenon is about, and how it has affected them.

Leonard Nimoy, Nichelle Nichols, DeForest Kelly, and George Takei attended the first "Star Trek" convention (1972) in New York, and they relate their memories of the event. Below are some rare classic photos.

We meet the convention promoters who travel city to city every weekend setting up the next show like modern-day carnies. And of course, we talk to the fans, who cross all racial, economic, social, and gender boundaries, waiting for that next show to come to town.

The film is an often humorous, sometimes touching, always curious, occasionally sad, definitely fascinating look at the world through the eyes of the people we have lovingly come to know as "Trekkies."
