Hello!
I looked around on your page and I saw that you are a bit "old" on the "Trekker Fan stories" side... this letter from Peter "Yar" Porkolab is 3 years old.
There were a lot of changes... in the last 2 years we had (at last) TOS and 1st and 2nd season TNG dubbed. It was great. We have a good relationship with the voice actors and actresses - they were guests on the premiere of Insurrection (on 3rd April 1999).
We are full with enthusiasm... we have only 140 members, we have minimal money (membership costs 50 USD/year), we have only a few books and magazines, we have almost no merchandising in our country - but we replace it with our fantasy: we have 9 different flags (UFP, Klingon, Romulan, Ferengi, Cardassian, Bajor, Vulcan...), the boys are planning a Vulcan and a Klingon scene for our big November scifi con (with costumes and bath'leths), we have our own ship, the USS Arpad, we make movies, we have our own fanzine called Trekker's Fascination... we use every opportunity for creativity.
But I think we are more lucky than the most American Trekkie, who does almost nothing more then buying and buying the newest merchandise... goes to convention and buys T-shirts, goes to the bookstore and buys ST novels - that sounds soooo boring!
They have for nothing "boldly go", there are no "undiscovered countries" in the TrekWorld.
However I'm interested for the new movie "Trekkies" and I hope someday I can watch it too.
Long live and prosper!
