Subject: Major Star Trek Interested With The Movie

Greetings! My name is Luke. I am a 19 year old 3rd class cadet at the US Air
Force Academy in Colorado. I have been a major Star Trek fan for over ten
years. I do not know exactly when it began, but I do remember seeing Star
Trek IV in theatres, and Encounter at Farpoint when it first aired. My entire
life I have wanted to fly in space. This dream began when I was three I think.
Anyway, that is what helped lead me to the Air Force where I am planning on
flying F-16's in the near future before I go into NASA. Currently I am majoring
in Astronautical Engineering. I am a major fan. People call me a Trekkie to
annoy but I would have to consider myself a Trekker but I really don't care
about it that much. The term I do hear a lot however is Skywalker for obvious
reasons. That is why the only Sci-Fi I enjoy is Star Trek since Star Wars
and the rest has been hammered out of me. Well, now for the purpose of this.
Over the summer when "Trekkies" the movie came out I was home on leave. I
did not get a chance to see it however because I did not discover it until
it was leaving theatres. I just purchased the movie over the Internet here
and I just got done watching it for the first time. I loved it! I have been
to about 5 conventions and I have never dressed up but this did make me feel
like I was back there. What really caught my eye was in the last twenty minutes
or so, a fan wearing a Picard jacket/top was interviewed for a quick blurb.
He stated that Star Trek is what led him to the Air Force Academy also. This
really grabbed my attention. I did not recognize him but my guess is that
he is a grad from the early '90's, probably a Captain or Major. Anyway, it
made me think about how much Star Trek influenced my decision to come here
as well. I would like to thank you for that movie. It was truly unique and
special, one that I will watch over and over.... Thank you very much for your
time. And Live Long and Prosper!!Very Respectfully,C3C Luke BallCS-36, USAFA9
