Hi,
Trekkies is a wonderful, sensitive film about some true, good-hearted individuals. It reminded me of Gates of Heaven, which is a documentary about people associated with a pet cemetary, and Brother Sun, Sister Moon, a fictional film about the life of St. Francis.
The low-budget compromises add to the charm of this film, but I wonder why it couldn't find financing. This is so obviously a money-maker that I would have thought the money bags would have been lining up for a piece of the action.
The candor of the stars seems to make all this believable. Those of us outside the Trekkie Universe can see the movement through their eyes as they express incredulity over the lifespan, vigor, and idealism of the Trekkie phenomenon.
