I went to see the film last night and I rather enjoyed it. Being a Trekkie myself helped. However, my date and myself were the only two people in the theater (but a Tuesday Night 7pm showing is not a good indicator). I am glad I went to see it (I was afraid it might not make it into the weekend...I hope the box office is doing better elsewhere). From the response of my friend I would have to say the film might just appeal to the fan-base more so than the general public. Both the people portrayed in the film and myself were ridiculed by my date, while at the same time I enjoyed seeing the film. Several of my friends are going to see it this week if it is still in the theater. I cannot wait to see what they think.
I could really relate to some of the people. My ST collection was even larger than some of the people in the films. And seeing people who went to work everyday wearing ST uniforms/pins/phasers was pretty cool too (I can get away with doing that a little more than the average Joe working in this environment...but being a fanatic myself is what got me my job). Anywho...good job to al who worked on the Film and my best for the future of it.
I know once it is on video I will be getting a copy. I would also like a copy of the poster...that was pretty cool with the truck flying through the delta shield.
I am done for the day...off to buy some Star Trek Action Figures (Which is not just a hobby any more...I will hopefully be having a book coming out in December).
