I finally got the chance to see "Trekkies" yesterday in Portland. I didn't realize that the film was in such limited release. I really do hope that it gets a wider release because "Trekkies" really does deserve to be seen.
I couldn't help but laugh at some of the people profiled. It's interesting (and scary) that so many people worship Star Trek the way they do and the lengths they go to show their love for the franchise. I was also touched by some of the people's stories such as James Doohan's (Scotty) story of the suicidal woman.
Everyone involved did an excellent job. All in all a great film and one of the best documentaries I've seen in quite a long time. The Oregonian here gave "Trekkies" 3 out of 4 stars but I'd have to give it a four. I hope to see more in the future.

P.S. Although I was hoping to see the Star Wars trailer before the film, I quickly forgot about my disappointment in not seeing it once "Trekkies" came on. It was that engrossing.
