Dear Denise, Roger and Keith,
Hello again and Stellar Greetings from your FAVORITE starship captain!! (Well, not the real guy, but HEY !! - it even scares me sometimes how much I look like Captain Kirk...although about twenty years younger.)
It has now been a couple months since I had the privilege of witnessing the premier of "TREKKIES" at AFI in LA. - - WHAT A HIT!! - - I'm talking academy award material here. It was certainly fun at the viewing...and that was only surpassed by the fact that I had the good fortune to be included in the production.
My personal history of TREK "fanaticism" is certainly different than most. Originally, when I finally realized that I really do look like William Shatner, I was uncertain as to whether it is a blessing or a curse. I would have to admit though, that it has really been fun, interesting, and sometimes even profitable. The people, the fans ("Trekkers"), and the stars I have met have been genuinely delightful. (Maybe I AM blessed in a special way.)
After having been involved with this phenomena for a mere four+ years, I am already overwhelmed by the number of stories and experiences I can share. I performed as emcee in a 30th Anniversary convention in Norwich, Connecticut with Takei, Doohan, Nichols, and Koenig. I got to know each of these stars and share their experiences - truly a highlight. And of course, my appearance with William Shatner on the Tonite Show with Jay Leno was my biggest thrill - a real adventure. The great times I have shared with people like you and the FANS at conventions and other events will never be forgotten - the recollections always summoning a smile.
I wish you all the best of luck in all your ventures - and again - thanks for making me a part of STAR TREK history. Love to you and all the "TREKKIES" around the galaxy.
To the stars.......
J. TRUSK "Captain K"
